30 Years of LAWA

This is a special year for the organization as we celebrate 30 years of working together to advance the education and quality of life of Latinos in the Charlotte Region. Thank you for your support and friendship throughout the three decades. It is because of sponsors', donors', and many other supporters' generosity and dedication that LAWA has provided more than 1 million dollars in scholarships and touched the lives of hundreds of Latino families.

Throughout our organization's materials the word "Latino(s)" will be used as the term to recognize and describe all of those who identify with Spanish heritage. All of those being a) Latino/a which refers to people who identify as descendants from Latin America and speak Spanish; b) Hispanic in which the word refers to people who speak Spanish and have descended from Spanish speaking populations; and c) Latinx which refers to people choosing to use term that is gender-neutral and an alternative to Latino, Latina, and Hispanic.
